Jeannie Loving
Jeannie Loving
Starting Year with SAMS: 2008
Calling to Ministry: Jeannie ignored God’s calls to ministry for over 20 years. When God began to do a series of miracles in her life, she started taking the call seriously. She bargained with God for a while and that didn’t work so well, so she went to SAMS and got started on missions.
Her primary mission is to women and children. She works with subsistence farmers and their families. Everything she has ever done has been called into service in her mission work, from camping with the Girl Scouts to organic gardening and child and poultry raising. In her mission, she has been instrumental in building two school kitchens, a children’s park, a community center, a water system, a kindergarten, and a church. With the help of the Peace Corps, every stove in the village was changed to an eco-stove and gutters were added for rainwater recycling. Teams have come down to do amazing things together with the villagers.
Personal Points of Interest: Her hobbies are reading, gardening, Worldle and Words with Friends. She likes crime novels, especially police procedurals. Her favorite music is Vallenato and cumbia. In art, she likes Fernando Botello and the Spanish masters, especially Velasquez and Gaudi. She holds a bachelor in Liberal arts from the University of Texas at Austin and did graduate studies at the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. She has teaching certificates in Spanish, English, History, bilingual teaching, and journalism.
She is a mother and a cat owner. She has been Episcopal/Anglican for over 65 years.
Favorite Bible Verse: Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. NIV
