Calling to Ministry:
My calling to ministry can best be described by Philippians 2:13, where Paul writes, “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.” Now, as I consider various aspects of my life, I can more clearly see common threads between them and realize that ministry is the direction the Holy Spirit has been leading me in for a while. At times, the next open door that the Lord has gifted me with has felt random; I often find myself thinking, ‘where did this come from?’ However, I have done my best to consistently walk in faith and openness towards the exciting possibilities that are placed in my path, and they have resulted in a deep passion for cross-cultural ministry and a heart for providing physical and spiritual aid to people in need. Looking back, I see that God has orchestrated the exact churches, people, education, and jobs necessary to develop adaptability and capacity in me, and for that I am immensely grateful. Though I feel unequipped often, I am reminded that He both “works in [me] to will and to act” and that my job is to faithfully follow and trust Him.

Vision for Ministry: During my time with Shade, my vision for ministry is first and foremost to be a witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Sharing the hope and love of God with the Shade team will be my number one priority. At the school, I will be assisting with English proficiency of staff and helping refine the English curriculum, as well focusing on operational efficiency in inventory, monitoring, and evaluation processes. My biggest desire is to have quality time to connect with the students and teachers and form meaningful relationships encouraging and building one another up in our faith.

Personal Points of Interest: I am interested in culture, theology, languages, and sports. I love spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach, photography, reading (my favorite genre is historical fiction), and swimming! In terms of background, my parents and grandparents all come from different nationalities and upbringings, so I believe that significantly influenced my wide perspective on the world from a very young age. I went to an international boarding school (where my parents worked) from sixth through twelfth grade, and it was a very formative experience instilling in me a deep appreciation for quality education and exposure to diversity of
cultures. I have lived in five different states, studied in England for a semester of college, and worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the summer of 2024. I recently finished up a nine-month spiritual and professional development program in North Carolina called Greensboro Fellows where I took theology classes, had an internship with a nonprofit providing legal aid to immigrants and refugees, and participated in conferences and service opportunities (in the community as well as with youth and multicultural programs at our church).

Favorite Bible Verse: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).
